Listen to the "Instantanés de création" of Mater Dolorosa - Femmes au Tombeau and watch the teaser !

Including Femmes au tombeau by Caroline Marçot, commissioned by the Abbaye of Sylvanès, France.

The 5 different parts of the newly composed contemporary piece by singer-composer Caroline Marçot, will be embedded in the medieval complaints around the Easter Period and rejoicing alleluia’s for the resurrection.

Three Maries (Jesus’ Mother, Marie Salome and Mary Magdalena) go to Jesus’ tomb to embalm, weep and pray, but are the first to realise (and believe) Christ isn’t among the dead anymore. They are the first to meet the angel/gardener/risen Christ. They are the first believers, even before the apostles.

Mater Dolorosa – Femmes au tombeau wants to shed a new light upon these women near the tomb.

Repertoire: monodic and polyphonic music from the Middle Age and contemporary music by Caroline Marçot, Ivan Moody..

Mora Vocis: five singers ; and a version with a dancer to come in 2017
