Sagesses et chants mystiques médiévaux et contemporains
This production is a follow-up to the highly succesful 'With Bathed Breath' (2011) in which Mora Vocis paid tribute to the life and works of Saint Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179).
The fiery, incandescent tales, mystical poetry and luminous singing at the heart of Mystica are directly inspired by the medieval literary, musical, poetical and scientific works of Hildegard, Herrad of Hohenburg (ca 1134-1195) and Hadewijch of Antwerp (13th century). With their distintive approaches they porvide an enthralling representation of their era. The subject matter remains fascinating for present day composers and is at the source of the pagnificent music and incredibly forceful poetical texts performed by the five singers of Mora Vocis. The original video images in 'Mystica - Scintillating Tales' constitute a sixth voice, in perfect harmony with the vocal tremors and melismas and unerdlining the bond between early and modern mysticism.
