Learning a song or short introductory course
A class of pupils of all levels, coached by a team of three singers, learns a monophonic piece or gains an insight into the structure of a motet. Duration: one and a half hours (or to be determined for the introductory courses).
A recital or rehearsal with running commentary
The duration and content of all our programmes can be tailored to suit a school audience and can involve preparation beforehand with the teaching staff and time set aside after the performance for debate and exchanges.
COURSES OF MEDIEVAL AND/OR CONTEMPORARY SINGING
Duration: one to five days. Open to amateur singers, music school or conservatory students, or professional musicians wishing to gain a first experience or perfect their knowledge of this repertoire. Ratio of one tutor per 8 participants.
Teaching methods: Mora Vocis puts particular emphasis on the dynamic quality of texts, rhythmical and harmonic structure, the use of vocal colours and breath control. The learning process is mainly based on listening and imitation so as to develop musical memory and the gesture which accompanies the musical phrase and its dynamics. Sheet music of the vocal pieces assist in taking the learning process a step further.
Mora Vocis works in close collaboration with researchers from the CEMM (Centre for Medieval Studies in Montpellier). Gisèle Clément (senior lecturer in Medieval Music History) and Isabelle Fabre (senior lecturer in Medieval Literature) are the group’s associates if an introductory talk before the concert or a conference (on a theme to be determined with the organisers) are required.
